Driving on Skye

We love public transport, it's cheap, it's relaxing and you never know who you will get chatting to. On Skye the public transport to the main towns is good. However if you want to get the most out of in a short time having a car is essential. I don't have a car and even after a year here, still have a huge to do list!

This video only shows a tiny part of Skye but give you a taste of what you can see on the Island. As you watch it you can see the road leading off to the hostel 2:26 mins in.

Only got one day here? We love the top loop of the island (as we call it) round the trotternish peninsula. Google maps claims it only takes 1h 51mins, we beg to differ, give it the whole day.

Passing the Red and Black Cuillin mountains, Sligachan, Portree, The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, Staffin, The Quiraing, Uig and The Fairy Glenn, not to mention the breath taking scenery in between. If you are not blown away by it, we will eat our hats!*

*as long as they are made of puff pastry!

Till next time
